Thumb-Stop Ratio shows, in percentage, how frequently people watched the first 3 seconds of your video ads each time they appeared on the screen.
It’s computed as:
For example, a 25% thumb-stop ratio means that, on average, in every 4 instances an ad showed on the screen, there is one instance it played for at least 3 seconds.
The first three seconds of your ads (known as the "hook") show whether or not your ads can grab attention and keep your audience engaged long enough to learn about or even buy your product.
You can use this metric to identify which of your video ads include an effective hook that you can further leverage and use in your future ad creatives.
You can find the thumb-stop ratio in the drop-down metric selection of any analytics tool in Madgicx.
For example, when you go to Ads Manager 2.0, you can click any of the column titles in the table:
Then, scroll through the selection to find the new metric or simply type “Thumb-Stop Ratio” in the search bar:
Select the metric to show in the column.
